Diploma IT blackbook project

An information technology diploma ends with a capstone project: a group builds a working application or system for a real user problem and documents it in a report. Polytechnics affiliated to MSBTE follow the board’s K-scheme report format, from the title page and certificate to its seven chapters.

Your own chapters, laid out for your topic, before you pay anything.

Structure

Chapters of a Diploma IT project report

After the title page, certificate, acknowledgement and abstract, MSBTE’s K-scheme Capstone Project curriculum (course 316004, approved 04/09/2025) lists these chapters, and BlackBook writes them in this order with the board’s own front pages. Your guide may rename a chapter; the board allows it.

Marking

What examiners look for

  1. 1Choose a problem with a real user you can describe; the board does not advise study-type projects.
  2. 2Your literature survey should end in a clear problem statement: what existing apps or methods miss that yours does.
  3. 3Show the data flow and database design that your demo actually uses, not a generic one.
  4. 4Put test cases in a table with expected and actual results from your own runs.

FAQ

Questions

How long is a diploma capstone project report?

There is no fixed page count in the board’s guidelines. Typed in Times New Roman 12 point with double spacing, as they ask, reports commonly run to 50 to 80 pages. Your guide’s advice comes first.

What font and margins does MSBTE ask for?

Times New Roman, 12 point text, chapter names in 14 point capitals, justified, double spaced, typed on one side, with margins of 3.5 cm on the left, 2.5 cm on the top and 1.25 cm on the right and bottom.

Do I need research papers in the literature survey?

The board asks for a literature survey that leads to your problem statement. Reviewing a few published papers and existing systems makes it stronger; cite only what you have actually read.
