FAQ

Questions, answered

What is an internship report?

An internship report is the document a student submits after an internship: what the company and its industry are, what the student did there week by week, and what they learned. BBA, BMS, BCom and MBA students submit one after the summer internship (the SIP report in MBA), and engineering and diploma students after industrial training.

What is the format of an internship report?

Front pages first: cover page, certificate from the college, a place for the company’s internship certificate, declaration, acknowledgement, executive summary and contents. Then the chapters: introduction, industry profile, company profile, your role and work done, analysis and learnings, findings and suggestions, and the bibliography and annexures. Colleges differ in small ways, so follow your own guidelines where they say something else; the report downloads as Word for exactly that.

How many pages should an internship report be?

Most colleges ask for 30 to 60 pages. BlackBook writes about 35 to 45, typed in Times New Roman with 1.5 spacing, before your own photographs, certificates and annexures are added.

What goes in the company profile?

The company’s history and background, its vision and mission, products or services, organisation structure (usually as a chart), departments and what each does, its competitors, and a SWOT analysis. Facts such as the year it was founded, its turnover or its clients must come from the company itself: BlackBook uses only what you give it and leaves a clear placeholder for the rest, never a guess.

How do I write the week-wise work done?

A table of each week of the internship, what you did that week, and what you learned from it. Start with induction and training in week 1 and build up to the work you did on your own. The planner on this page lays one out for your department and length to copy; the full report writes it from your own description of the work.

Is it only for BBA and MBA?

No. Any course can make one: BBA, BMS, BCom, BAF, MBA, engineering, BSc IT, BCA, diploma and others. The course you choose goes on the cover, and the report links your work to the subjects of your course.

How much does it cost?

Writing it is free. Unlocking it is one payment of ₹99: every chapter to read and edit, and PDF and Word downloads as often as you need. There is no subscription.

What do I add myself?

The internship certificate or completion letter from the company, on its letterhead; the offer letter if your college asks for it; photographs and samples of your work where the company allows; and the signatures on the certificate pages. The report marks where each one goes.
