MBA project topics

26 topics for a MBA final year project. An MBA project goes further than an undergraduate study: a sharper question, a stronger method and recommendations a manager could act on. These topics are grouped by specialisation and suit a summer internship or a final dissertation.

These are ideas, not an official list. Your guide approves the topic, so take two or three to them.

How to choose your MBA topic

  1. Pick a topic where you can reach 50 to 100 respondents yourself: classmates, your building, shopkeepers on one street.
  2. Narrow it with a place and a group. "Consumer behaviour" is a subject; "online grocery buying among working women in Thane" is a topic.
  3. Write three objectives before you commit. If you cannot, the topic is still too wide.
  4. Check that published studies exist for your literature review. A Google Scholar search of the topic should return at least ten.

Questions

How is an MBA project topic different from a BMS or BBA one?

It is narrower and more analytical. Examiners expect a framework from the literature, a defensible sample or dataset, analysis beyond simple percentages, and recommendations with their cost or effect estimated.

Can the summer internship project be the final MBA project?

Many institutes treat them as two separate submissions, some allow the internship study to be extended. Check your institute’s rule, and the company’s, before building on internship data.
